JOHN C. MILLER JR.: Litigation is the process of attempting to first negotiate a settlement in a case involving injuries or other matters. And then if the settlement negotiations do not come to fruition, it would be the filing of a lawsuit or a complaint to initiate what's called litigation. The first two steps in the litigation process are the initial meeting with the client in order to establish an attorney-client relationship. They discuss the facts of their case. And if it's mutually agreed between the law firm and the client to represent the client, we will proceed in that regard. Following that stage, we will attempt to negotiate a settlement of the case, so long as there are no statute of limitations issues. The next three steps in the litigation process are the filing of the complaint, which initiates the lawsuit. The next step is the discovery phase, where we're able to obtain information from the opposing parties. And the final stage, if the case is not resolved, it will proceed to trial. At the end of the litigation process, it's important that the clients, number one, understand the process as it occurred and also that their goals have been met. And it's very important at the outset of these cases that the goals are defined and the clients have realistic expectations of the litigation process and what they can expect.
